Growing up with divorced parents living in two different homes church was something we did every other weekend when staying at Dad’s house, and faith was not important or relevant. Although I believed in Jesus as the Son of God, and was baptized in His name, I saw faith as something more like a scheduled task than a way of life. However, even then, God was at work in my life and I just didn’t know it yet. In the winter of my 7th grade year my Father took his own life which left me with a lot of questions. Then, a school friend who wore her faith loud and proud asked if I would like to attend a youth group lock-in with her, my heart and life was broken at this point and was just what God needed as He stepped in to pick up the pieces and make me whole. Shortly after this lock-in my family began attending church regularly, and I eventually came to have a real relationship with Jesus as the son of God and my Lord and Savior.
God continued to work in my life, building my strength and faith as I became more and more involved with the church and the youth group. As I grew older I became a leader in our group and helped lead friends to a saving relationship with Christ as well. At summer camp my Junior year of high school I was asked by a couple friends to assist in their baptism, at which time I began to feel God’s call to full time ministry to lead as many as possible to Christ and assist them in their walk as Christians; aiding them to understand and believe that we are all God’s masterpieces created in His image having value and purpose as well as a relationship with Him. Sin separates that relationship, and God so desires to reconcile that relationship that He sent His son Christ Jesus to pave the way for that relationship to be restored.
The rest, as they say, is history. I pursued God’s call to ministry training and entered the college of Bible and Religion at Harding University where I received my bachelors degree and entered full time ministry. In ministry I have felt and seen first hand God’s guidance, love, forgiveness, and power both in my life and in the lives of the individuals I have been blessed to journey with.
If you would like to know more just ask, I would love to sit down and talk with you about how our stories become His Story.
